The Berkenmeyer takes its name from a birch-bark funnel once used to pour drink into narrow-necked bottles. Inspired by that distinctive form, this elegant drinking glass was among the notable glass styles of the mid-16th century. Height: 10.5 cm. Capacity: 28 cl.

AT THE MEDIEVAL TABLE
Glass vessels were valued possessions at the medieval table. Depending on their form, they held wine, ale or water, or were used to pour and serve drinks during a meal.
HOW IT IS MADE
The glass is shaped by hand using traditional glassblowing methods and forms inspired by medieval examples. Bubbles, tool marks and slight differences between pieces are natural traces of the making process.
